In the summer of 2016, I created a new entertainment blog powered by the Medium blogging network. Here I provide both long and short-form commentary on the biggest news and events hitting entertainment.
Wrote articles and consumer guides for the Lifewire vertical under the DotDash network.
As a writer in the Communications Department at New Mexico State University, I was responsible for formulating, writing, and sending out press releases, news stories, and other features about the NMSU College of Arts & Sciences. I also helped manage the NMSU News social media platforms, and took photos and created video packages for use in press releases, social media postings, etc. Designed and created through Adobe InDesign the NMSU College of Arts and Sciences newsletter, an 85-page, magazine-style document comprised of all news and feature stories released in the previous semester.
Wrote and researched news stories related to the NMSU Journalism department. Edited the writing of others for clarity, grammar, etc. Designed magazine pages through Adobe InDesign, and created the main logo and other essential images for the publication
Created and ran an entertainment news/editorial website, personally writing over 5,000 articles in this time. Overall, I managed to obtain an average of over 50,000 unique page views a month. I directly oversaw and coordinated a staff of 12 writers and other editors to reach daily quota of content. As part of my duties, I read and edited thousands of articles to reach maximum publication standards. In addition, I created and ran multiple social media pages, posting updates and content for thousands of subscribers
At Cinelinx, I was responsible for producing multiple articles a day about the entertainment industry, writing over 480 articles in this time. I worked under my editor on optimizing news coverage and website promotion.
As a Library Assistant at the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, I was responsible for maintaining the computer lab during nights and weekend hours. The majority of my time on the desk was utilized to assist patrons with computer help/technical support that they needed to operate library resources. I also assisted in closing and securing the library every night.
Responsible for maintaining the front desk at Branson Library, the largest library at New Mexico State University. Here I checked out books, answered phones, and assisted customers with any queries they had. I also closed and secured the library every night
As a library aide for the Silver City Public Library, I was often responsible for maintaining the front desk. I also shelved books and kept my assigned section both clean and in order.
Pursuing my Masters of Fine Arts degree at the AFI Conservatory, studying Screenwriting. Was a recipient of the James Bridge Memorial Fellowship, a full-tuition scholarship. Projects include writing, developing, and working on set for three short films; writing a TV comedy spec script, a TV drama spec script, and a full-length feature film script.
Graduated in 2017. Duel degree recipient, majoring in both Journalism and Digitial Filmmaking. Awarded the Honor Excels Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship. Also honored as a Dean’s List student twice.
